Editorial explores relationship between disability-rights and abortion-rights advocacy

In The Paradox of Disability in Abortion Debates: Bringing the Pro-Choice and Disability Rights Communities Together, authors Sujatha Jesudason and Julia Epstein argue in Contracpetion that while reproductive-rights and disability-rights advocates are often aligned on political issues, the language sometimes used by reproductive-rights groups is interpreted as devaluing the lives of individuals with disabilities. The authors outline five ways reproductive-rights advocates can better align their messages with their “own values of dignity, equality and self-determination for all.
